W&L Women's XCountry Finishes Third in W&L Invitational

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's cross country team finished third out of seven teams as it hosted the Generals Invitational on Saturday morning at the Dick Miller Cross Country Course.

VMI won the event with 24 points and was followed by Otterbein (59) in second and W&L (76) in third.

Individually, junior Lauren Schultz (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) paced the Generals with a fifth-place finish out of 80 runners, crossing the tape in 24:11.  Sophomore Brandie Huffman (Warrenton, Va./Fauquier) placed 12th with a time of 25:43, while sophomore Jena Glavy (Stafford, Va./Mountain View) placed 15th overall with a time of 25:54.

Junior Molly Ortiz (Ketchikan, Alaska/Ketchikan) finished 20th overall (26:50) and junior Teresa Soley (Lebanon, N.J./Mother of Divine Grace) placed 30th overall (27:39).

Washington and Lee returns to action on September 24 as it participates in the Roanoke Invitational.
