ASHLAND, Va. — Sixth-ranked Juniata had three players with at least eight kills, as the Eagles defeated the Washington and Lee volleyball team, 3-0, on Saturday in a neutral-site contest at Randolph-Macon.

Each set was closely contested, but Juniata (15-3) came out on top in all three, 25-20, 25-22, 25-21.

Sophomore outside hitter Brynne Gould (Boone, N.C./Watauga) led the Generals (13-9) with 10 kills on 18 attempts with one error (.500 hitting percentage). Senior outside hitter Elly Cosgrove (Wilmington, N.C./John T. Hoggard) had a team-high 11 digs and two aces, and junior setter Anna Soroka (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) totaled 23 assists, four digs and two service aces.

Sophomore outside hitter Victoria Taylor led the Eagles with 11 kills. Sophomore outside hitter Marie Gonsar added nine kills, and senior middle hitter Marybeth Weihbrecht notched eight.

The Generals return to action on Tuesday, when they host Eastern Mennonite at 7:00 pm.
