LEXINGTON, Va. — Sophomore outside hitter Brynne Gould (Boone, N.C./Watauga) registered 12 kills to propel the Washington and Lee volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep over Stevenson on Saturday at the Duchossois Tennis Center.
The two squads were separated by just a few points in each set, but the Generals (11-8) prevailed in all three, 25-23, 25-22, 25-20.
Gould recorded a .290 hitting percentage with 12 kills on 31 attempts and just three errors. She also had five digs. Senior outside hitter Meg Guignon (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) finished the contest with eight kills and a match-high 16 digs.
Sophomore middle blocker Courtney Berry (Charlottesville, Va./Western Albemarle) tallied seven kills on 16 attempts with two errors (.312 hitting percentage), while also chipping in four blocks.
Senior outside hitter Elly Cosgrove (Wilmington, N.C./John T. Hoggard) notched 14 digs and three assists. Junior setter Anna Soroka (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) did a little bit of everything with 31 assists, seven digs, three aces, three blocks and four kills. Sophomore middle blocker Madeline Ferguson (San Antonio, Texas/Smithson Valley) had five kills on seven swings and two blocks.
Junior outside hitter Darian Hileman led the Mustangs (11-11) with seven kills and 11 digs. Junior setter Caroline Dangel recorded 13 assists and eight digs.
The Generals next host Mary Washington on Tuesday at 7:00 pm.
