COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Washington and Lee volleyball team was held to a .013 hitting percentage in a 3-0 loss to fourth-ranked Wittenberg on Saturday at the Otterbein/Capital Fall Classic.
The Generals (0-3) totaled just 18 kills with 17 errors on 80 total attempts in the match, while the Tigers (2-0) had 46 kills with 16 errors on 99 total attempts for a .303 hitting percentage.
Wittenberg won the first set, 25-17, took the second, 25-16, and closed out the match in the third, 25-14.
First-year outside hitter Val Sokolow (Draper, Utah/Juan Diego Catholic) led the Blue and White with six kills. Sophomore outside hitter Leah Green (Longwood, Fla./Lake Highland Prep) notched three kills and 10 digs. Sophomore setter Riley Haralson (Austin, Texas/Westlake) recorded 10 assists, two aces, two kills and six digs.
Sophomore right-side hitter Haley Horner and first-year middle hitter Katie Hiestand each tallied 10 kills to pace the Tigers. Junior middle blocker Aubrey Cox finished with eight kills on 13 attempts for a .538 hitting percentage, and senior setter Karen Wildemann had 34 assists, seven kills, three digs and two blocks.
The Generals finish up play at the Otterbein/Capital Fall Classic at 2:00 pm on Saturday against Otterbein.
