LEXINGTON, Va. — First-year outside hitter Brynne Gould (Boone, N.C./Watauga) notched 12 kills on a .367 hitting percentage to lead the Washington and Lee volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Hollins on Saturday at the Warner Center.
The Generals (19-6, 9-1 ODAC) hit .358 as a team, as they made quick work of Hollins (6-18, 0-9) in the 25-8, 25-16, 25-10 win.
W&L totaled 45 kills and 11 errors on 95 total attempts to reach its hitting percentage. The Blue and White spread the ball around on offense with seven players recording at least three kills.
Gould needed just 30 attempts with only one error to reach her 12 kills. She also added seven digs and three blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Ashleigh Meade (Bristow, Va./Patriot) registered eight kills on 13 swings for a .462 clip. She also chipped in nine digs and three aces.
Sophomore outside hitter Allison Webb (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) added seven kills and three blocks. Sophomore setter Mollie Ray (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) distributed the ball with a match-high 18 assists. Senior defensive specialist Katie Volk (Lancaster, Calif./Quartz Hill) led the back row with 10 digs.
The Generals held Hollins to a -.047 hitting percentage. Hollins had 13 kills and 17 errors on 86 total attempts. Sophomore middle blocker Kiki Speights led the team with four kills. First-year libero Hannah Piatak notched a match-high 13 digs.
