LYNCHBURG, Va. — Sophomore outside hitter Ashleigh Meade (Bristow, Va./Patriot) and first-year outside hitter Brynne Gould (Boone, N.C./Watauga) each tallied double-digit kills to lead the Washington and Lee volleyball team to a 3-0 victory at Randolph on Wednesday at the RAD Center.
The Generals (12-1, 4-0 ODAC) held the WildCats (4-9, 1-3 ODAC) to a -.025 hitting percentage in the first set, 25-14, to take a 1-0 lead. W&L then hit .324 in the second, 25-19, and .355 in the third, 25-18, to claim the match.
Meade had 11 kills, five digs and three service aces, while Gould notched 10 kills on just 23 attempts with one error for a .391 hitting percentage. She also had four digs and three blocks.
Senior setter Elena West (Roanoke, Va./Northside) totaled a double-double with 11 assists and 10 digs. Senior defensive specialist Katie Volk (Lancaster, Calif./Quartz Hill) led the back row with 10 digs and six assists. Junior outside hitter Elly Cosgrove (Wilmington, N.C./John T. Hoggard) was efficient in limited attempts. She had four kills in eight attempts for a .500 hitting percentage.
Junior outside hitter Autumn Troxell tallied a team-high eight kills to lead Randolph. She also had a match-high 19 digs. Junior setter Brooks Gillerlain registered 13 assists.
The Generals have won 12 matches in a row dating back to September 2. The team next plays at Mary Washington on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
