ATLANTA, Ga. — Despite 14 kills from junior outside hitter Anna Lausberg (Ocoee, Fla./Bishop Moore Catholic), the Washington and Lee volleyball team fell at sixth-ranked Emory, 3-0, on Saturday in the Generals (24-6) final match at the Emory Invitational.
The Eagles (31-3) won the first set, 25-15, claimed the second, 25-20, and closed out the match in the third, 25-19.
Lausberg totaled her 14 kills on 38 attempts, and also had four digs. Lausberg was named to the All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of all the matches. Junior setter Alex Kinzer (Greenville, S.C./Eastside) recorded a double-double with 20 assists and 10 digs.
Junior outside hitter Kasey Cannon (North Wales, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy) notched 12 digs and five kills. Sophomore defensive specialist Sam Moench (St. Petersburg, Fla./Berkeley Prep) tallied a match-high 14 digs.
Emory had three players register at least 10 kills. Senior outside hitter Leah Jacobs led the team with 14 kills, while senior middle hitter Cat McGrath and sophomore middle hitter Jessica Holler each had 10. Senior outside hitter Kate Bowman totaled a team-high 11 digs.
This was the final match of the regular season for the Generals. They will enter the ODAC Tournament as the third seed, and will host sixth-seeded Randolph on Wednesday in the quarterfinals.
