NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Washington and Lee volleyball team held York (Pa.) to 36 total points in a 3-0 victory on Saturday at Newport News, Va.
The Generals (23-6) won the first set, 25-15, took the second, 25-12, and ran away with the third, 25-9. W&L hit .289 in the match with 30 kills and nine errors on 78 attempts. The Spartans (15-14) totaled a -.067 hitting percentage with 14 kills and 20 errors on 89 attempts.
Senior Meghan Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) flirted with a triple double, as she notched 18 assists, five digs and a season-high six kills. Senior outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas) also had six kills, along with three service aces and eight digs.
First-year middle blocker Mackenzie Shand (Saline, Mich./Saline) tallied four kills, and for the second straight match, she had a season-high seven total blocks, with five blocks solo.
Junior defensive specialist Kelly McManus (Osprey, Fla./Pine View) led the Blue and White with 11 digs and added three aces. Sophomore middle blocker Jenna Gustafson (San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker School) totaled a match-high four service aces.
First-year outside hitter Ijeoma Igwe led York with six kills, but also committed 11 errors. Sophomore libero Katherine Graziano and first-year libero Karli Hawxhurst each had 10 digs.
The Generals played Christopher Newport later on Saturday.
