DANVILLE, Ky. — The Washington and Lee volleyball team fell in four sets at Centre on Friday, 3-1. The loss ended the Generals' (16-4) six-match winning streak, while the Colonels (14-2) extended their winning streak to eight.
Centre took the opening set, 25-20, while W&L claimed the second, 25-20. The Colonels bounced back to win the third, 25-23, and closed out the match in the fourth, 25-23.
Senior outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's) led the Blue and White with 15 kills and added nine digs. Sophomore outside hitter Anna Lausberg (Ocoee, Fla./Bishop Moore Catholic) totaled 14 kills and four total blocks. Senior outside hitter Allison Rouse (Troy, Mich./Troy) notched 13 kills.
Senior setter Meghan Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) tallied 49 assists, 11 digs, three service aces and four total blocks. Junior defensive specialist Kelly McManus (Osprey, Fla./Pine View) led the team with 17 digs, while sophomore right side Maddie Kosar (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) recorded 13 digs.
Furth statistics were not immediately available after the match. The Generals will take on Defiance and Transylvania on Saturday, starting at 3:00 pm.
