W&L Volleyball Sweeps Rhodes, 3-0

MARYVILLE, Tenn. — In its second match at the Maryville College Invitational, the Washington and Lee volleyball team swept Rhodes, 3-0, on Friday to improve to 2-0 on the year.

The Generals edged the Lynx (0-2), 25-22 and 25-21, in the first two sets, and then cruised to a 25-14 win in the third to take the match. Sophomore outside hitter Anna Lausberg (Ocoee, Fla./Bishop Moore Catholic) led the Blue and White with 16 kills and nine digs. Senior outside M.A. Boles (ouston, Texas/St. John's ) recorded her second double-double of the day with 12 kills and 11 digs.

Senior setter Meghan Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) spread the ball around with 35 assists. Junior defensive specialist Kelly McManus (Osprey, Fla./Pine View) led the team with two service aces.

Alexis Krall led Rhodes with nine kills on 28 attempts, and Tasha Heller tallied a match-high 20 digs. The Generals hit .234 as a team, compared to .135 for the Lynx.

W&L finishes play at the invitational on Saturday when it takes on Hanover at 10:00 am and Maryville at 2:00 pm.
