W&L Volleyball Fends Off Bridgewater, 3-1

BRIDGEWATER, Va. — In its final Old Dominion Athletic Conference match of the season, the Washington and Lee volleyball team earned a 3-1 victory at Bridgewater on Wednesday. The Generals (22-8, 10-1 ODAC) secured the second seed in the ODAC Tournament with the win.

W&L lost the first set to the Eagles (16-13, 8-3 ODAC), but won the next three to take the 21-25, 25-20, 27-25, 25-18 victory.

Washington and Lee had three players record double-doubles in the match. Junior setter Meghan Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) tallied 14 assists and 15 digs, junior outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's) had 19 kills and 12 digs and first-year outside hitter Anna Lausberg (Ocoee, Fla./Bishop Moore Catholic) totaled 12 kills and 10 digs.

The Generals had two other players with double-digit digs. First-year right-side hitter Maddie Kosar (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) had 13 and first-year libero Kasey Cannon (North Wales, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy) notched 14.

Senior middle hitter Cadie Castle and junior outside hitter Katie Long led BC with 10 kills. Senior libero Casey O'Leary had a match-high 26 digs, and junior setter Lindsay Kallam had a double-double with 32 assists and 12 digs.

The win was the eighth straight for W&L and the 11th of its last 12. Washington and Lee finished its conference schedule with the only league loss coming at Randolph-Macon (19-5, 10-0 ODAC).

The Generals next play in the Emory National Invitational this weekend, October 26 & 27.
