Boles Named ODAC Volleyball Player of the Week

FOREST, Va. — Washington and Lee junior outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending September 30.

Boles propelled the Generals to a 3-2 week, and helped improve the team to 14-6 overall. Her week culminated with her being named to the Gallaudet Worthington Classic All-Tournament Team after Saturday's matches. In the first match of the Classic for W&L against Geneva, Boles had career highs in kills (28) and digs (26). It was the first 20-20 match of her career. The 28 kills marked the second-highest single-match total in program history, trailing only Nancy Reinhart's 29 in 1996.

She also recorded the 1,000th kill of her career against the Golden Tornadoes, becoming only the ninth player in W&L history to reach 1,000. She has 1,055 kills in her career, and is 36 behind Hilary Martin '98 for eighth all-time.

For the week, Boles recorded five double-doubles, 87 kills, 75 digs, eight service aces, seven assists, seven total blocks and hit .270. In the last eight matches she's played, she has eight double-doubles and is averaging 4.12 kills per set and 3.33 digs per set.

The Generals travel to fifth-ranked Christopher Newport on Tuesday, October 2, for a 7:00 pm match.
