WASHINGTON, D.C. — Junior M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's) recorded her 1,000 career kill, and had single-match career highs in kills and digs in a 3-2 loss to Geneva in Washington and Lee volleyball team's first match at the Gallaudet Volleyball Worthington Classic on Friday.
The Generals (11-6, 5-1 ODAC) won two of the first three sets, but the Golden Tornadoes (13-4) took the final two sets to claim the 21-25, 25-22, 21-25, 25-18, 15-11 victory.
Boles led all players with 28 kills and tied for the match high with teammate Kasey Cannon (North Wales Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy) with 26 digs. The 28 kills are the second-highest single-match total in W&L history, only trailing Nancy Reinhart's 29 in 1996.
On her 20th kill of the match, Boles registered the 1,000th of her career, becoming only the ninth player in W&L history to reach the number. She now has 1,008 kills in her three years.
W&L played later on Friday against Shenandoah.
