W&L Volleyball Tripped Up by Juniata, 3-1

ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team completed play at the Emory National Invitational with a 3-1 loss to 12th-ranked Juniata on Saturday afternoon. 

W&L slipped to 25-7 with the 25-21, 24-26, 25-20, 25-21 defeat while Juniata improved to 23-7 with the win. 

Sophomore outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's) led W&L offensively with 17 kills. Senior middle blocker Lindsey Dee (Tallahassee, Fla./Maclay School) added nine kills and sophomore right side Alison Rouse (Troy, Mich./Troy) chipped in seven kills. Boles and Rouse also added a pair of service aces each.

Junior libero Cameron Hill (Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant) paced the defense with 26 digs and first-year setter Corinne Hemmersbach (Torrance, Calif./Chadwick) had 11 digs. Dee had four blocks for the Blue and White and sophomore setter Meghan Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) had three blocks to go with 44 assists. 

W&L opened day two of the tournament with a 3-1 (25-14, 25-16, 22-25, 25-17) loss to Lee. Stats from that match were not immediately available.

The Generals return to action on Wednesday when they host Hollins in the quarterfinal round of the ODAC Tournament beginning at 6:30 pm.
