W&L Volleyball Falls, 3-0, at No. 8 Christopher Newport

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Washington and Lee volleyball team saw 12-match winning streak come to an end with a 3-0 loss at No. 8 Christopher Newport in the Freeman Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Generals (25-3) fell 25-23, 25-22, 25-20. With the win, the eighth-ranked Captains improved to 25-4. 

Senior middle blocker Lindsey Dee (Tallahassee, Fla./Maclay School) led the Generals with nine kills and added two blocks. Sophomore outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's) chipped in six kills and 11 digs and sophomore right side Allison Rouse (Troy, Mich./Troy) had five kills and four digs.

Junior libero Cameron Hill (Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant) posted a team-high 12 digs and first-year setter Corinne Hemmersbach (Torrance, Calif./Chadwick) registered 11 digs. 

Sophomore setter Meghan Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) ran the offense and totaled 24 assists to go with six digs and a service ace.

Bailey Jensen led the Captains with 15 kills and hit .565 for the match. Chelsea McClure and Christie Fellows added six kills apiece. Abby Hogge had 13 digs to lead CNU and Alyssa Kidd had 25 assists. 

The Generals return to action on Friday when they open the two-day Emory National Invitational against Heidelberg at 4:00 pm.
