W&L Volleyball Breezes Past Methodist, 3-1

SALEM, Va. – The Washington and Lee volleyball team wrapped up day one of the Maroon Classic hosted by Roanoke College with a 3-1 win over Methodist at the Bast Center on Friday evening.

W&L (20-2, 7-0 ODAC) downed the Monarchs 25-16, 15-25, 25-18, 25-14 to record its seventh win in a row. 

Sophomore outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's) led the Generals with an 18-kill, 16-dig performance. Senior middle blocker Lindsey Dee (Tallahassee, Fla./Maclay School) added 13 kills and senior outside hitter Megan Daily (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook) chipped in nine kills.

Sophomore setter Meghan Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) had 45 assists and three service aces and first-year defensive specialist Kelly McManus (Osprey, Fla./Pine View) added nine digs. 

Methodist (14-5) was led by Jalesty Washington, who had a team-high 12 kills to go with 10 digs. Rachel Evans had 13 digs and Kayci Miller registered 30 assists and 12 digs.

W&L kicked off play in the Maroon Classic with a 3-1 win over Averett earlier on Friday night. The Generals bested the Cougars 25-13, 20-25, 25-17, 25-23 in the team's second meeting of the season. 

Stats from the first match were not immediately available.

The Generals begin day two of the Maroon Classic when they take on Southern Virginia at 12:00 pm on Saturday.
