LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team improved to 15-2 on the season with a 3-0 win over Eastern Mennonite on Tuesday evening at the Warner Center.
The Generals, who improved to 5-0 in the ODAC, recorded their 24th-straight win over the Royals (5-11, 0-5 ODAC) with the 25-10, 25-14, 25-11 sweep.
First-year right side Shelby Flores (Alta Loma, Calif./Los Osos) led the Blue and White with a career-high 10 kills and a .625 hitting percentage. Senior outside hitter Megan Daily (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook) added six kills and senior middle blocker Lindsey Dee (Tallahassee, Fla./Maclay School) chipped in five.
Junior libero Cameron Hill (Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant) led the defense with seven digs and senior defensive specialist Megan Tomlinson (Petersburg, Pa./Huntingdon Area) and sophomore outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's) each had three service aces as the Generals had 11 service aces as a team, the eighth time this year they recorded at least 10 aces in a match. First-year setter Corinne Hemmersbach (Torrance, Calif./Chadwick) had 25 assists.
The Royals were led by first-year outside hitter Sara Ritchie (Harrisonburg, Va./Turner Ashby), who totaled eight kills while senior outside hitter Tabitha Bowman (Waynesboro, Va./Stuarts Draft) tallied six.
Ritchie and first-year defensive specialist Mattie Lehman (New Paris, Ind./Bethany Christian) each had six digs and sophomore setter Jessica Goertzen (Goessel, Kan./Goessel) had 10 assists.
W&L returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Virginia Wesleyan for an 11:00 am match, followed by a 1:00 pm match with Mary Washington.
