W&L Women's T&F in Action at Sweetheart Multi-Mix

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The Washington and Lee women's track and field team competed against Division I and III teams at the Sweetheart Multi-Mix Madness hosted by Navy on Thursday.

Senior Lizzy Stanton (Papillion, Neb./Papillion-LaVista South) recorded a season-best mark in the pole vault, taking eighth overall (first in D III). She cleared 3.51m (11'6.25"). In the high jump, first-year Alexa Castellana (Boonton, N.J./Mountain Lakes) finished fourth (first in D III) at 1.55m (5'1.00").

Senior Dana Lee (Nashville, Tenn./St. Cecilia Academy) claimed third (first in D III) in the long jump with a leap of 4.97m (16'3.75"). Castellana was eighth in the event at 4.85m (15'11.00").

Lee was also sixth (second in D III) in the 60m with a season-best time of 8.10, and placed sixth (second in D III) in the 400m with a season-best time of 59.86. In the mile, junior Lily Arnold (Jacksonville, Fla./The Bolles School) was 10th (first in D III) in 5:29.01, and sophomore Bailey Sanders (Powell, Wyo./Powell) registered a personal-best time in 5:52.49.

Sophomore Kirsten McMichael (Eighty Four, Pa./Ringgold) recorded a career-best time in the 3,000m. She finished sixth (first in D III) in 10:41.05. Senior Mackenzie Shand (Saline, Mich./Saline) recorded a career-best throw in the shot put of 10.50m (34'5.50"). She was eighth overall in the event and first in Division III.

The 1,600m sprint relay placed ninth (third in D III) with a time of 4:41.96. The quartet consisted of sophomore Jessica Rosenwasser (New York, N.Y./Convent of the Sacred Heart), first-year Claire Mackin (Camp Hill, Pa./Harrisburg Academy), junior Kaleigh Hinton (Florham Park, N.J./Hanover Park) and Sanders.

The Generals next compete at the Roanoke Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
