Seybold Breaks W&L 800m Record at Darius Dixon Invite

LYNCHBURG, Va. — Washington and Lee sophomore Maggie Seybold (Cockeysville, Md./McDonogh School) broke the indoor school record in the 800m to pace the women's track and field team on day two of the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational on Saturday at Liberty.

The meet featured mostly Division I programs, and Seybold crossed the finish line fifth overall (first in D III) in the race with a time of 2:17.26. Her time broke the previous record of 2:19.15 set by Annelise Madison '14 on February 22, 2014. Seybold already holds the outdoor 800m mark of 2:15.61.

Senior Catherine Fonvielle (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) placed 11th (third in D III) in the 800m with a time of 2:21.23, and junior Lily Arnold (Jacksonville, Fla./The Bolles School) was 12th (fourth in D III) with a personal-best time of 2:22.38. First-year Olivia Cooper (Newtown Square, Pa./Radnor) and sophomore Bailey Sanders (Powell, Wyo./Powell) each recorded career-best times in the event. Cooper registered a time of 2:29.77 and Sanders finished in 2:38.83.

In the pole vault, senor Lizzy Stanton (Papillion, Neb./Papillion-LaVista South) placed eighth overall (first in DIII) with a mark of 3.35m (10'11.75"). First-year Alexa Castellana (Boonton, N.J./Mountain Lakes) notched a personal-best in the high jump with a leap of 1.55m (5'01.00"). She tied for 11th overall and first in Division III. Senior Dana Lee (Nashville, Tenn./St. Cecilia Academy) took 10th (35'04.50") in the triple jump at 10.78m (35'04.50").

The Blue and White had three runners set personal records in the 200m. Jessica Rosenwasser (New York, N.Y./Convent of the Sacred Heart) crossed the finish line in 27.36, Kara Farroni (Willoughby, Ohio/Willoughby South) recorded a time of 27.99 and Kaleigh Hinton (Florham Park, N.J./Hanover Park) notched a time of 28.94.

Also at the meet, senior Mackenzie Shand (Saline, Mich./Saline) registered a career-best in the shot put at 9.87m (32'04.75"), and senior Ali Peacock (Libertyville, Ill./Vernon Hills) ran a personal-best time in the 60m (8.51).

The Generals next compete at the JDL Camel City Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
