WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — In its final tune-up before the ODAC Championship, the Washington and Lee women's track and field team was in action at the UCS Invitational at the JDL Fast Track on Saturday.
In the 3,000m, first-year Samantha Yates (Birmingham, Ala./St. Paul's School) claimed 12th overall and was the top Division III competitor. She crossed the finish line in 10:27.86, which was just four seconds off the school record (10:23.84) set in 1993.
First-year Maggie Seybold (Cockeysville, Md./McDonogh School) claimed 19th (first in D-III) in the 800m with a time of 2:22.00, and sophomore Lily Arnold (Jacksonville, Fla./The Bolles School) registered a personal-best time of 2:23.69 in taking 23rd overall and third in Division III.
Junior Dana Lee (Nashville, Tenn./St. Cecilia Academy) claimed 11th (second in D-III) in the triple jump at 10.70m (35'01.25"), while senior Maggie Kleber (Beach Haven, N.J./Southern Regional) recorded a career-best leap of 10.01m (32'10.25") in placing 14th (third in D-III). In the 400m, Lee was 13th (first in D-III) with a time of 59.29. Junior Kara Farroni (Willoughby, Ohio/Willoughby South) notched a personal-best time of 1:02.01.
In the pole vault, junior Lizzy Stanton (Papillion, Neb./Papillion-LaVista South) took ninth overall and first in Division III with a mark of 3.30m (10'10.00"). Senior Kaela Fiutak (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) was 13th (second in D-III) at 3.00m (9'10.00"). The DMR claimed eighth overall (first in D-III) with a time of 13:30.81. The quartet consisted of Arnold, junior Catherine Fonvielle (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes), first-year Bailey Sanders (Powell, Wyo./Powell) and senior Katy Bonaro (Waldorf, Md./North Point).
The Generals next compete at the ODAC Championship on Sunday, February 28, at the Prince George Complex in Landover, Md.
