W&L Women's T&F Claims Third at ODAC Championship

LEXINGTON, Va. — Senior Annelise Madison (Roca, Neb./Norris) earned the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete Award, and first-year Dana Lee (Nashville, Tenn./St. Cecilia Academy) was named the Co-Rookie of the Meet, as the Washington and Lee women's track and field team took third at the Outdoor ODAC Championship hosted by Roanoke on Saturday.

Roanoke claimed the team title with 150.33 points, Bridgewater was second (134), the Generals totaled 106 points and Lynchburg placed fourth (102).

Along with her first-place finish on Friday in the long jump, Lee scored in four events on Saturday. She broke her own W&L record in the triple jump as she took third. Lee also finished third in the 200m (26.05) and fourth in the 100m (12.79). She had a leap of 10.98m (36'00.25") in the triple jump. Her previous record was 10.93m (35'10.50) set last Saturday.

Lee was also part of the 4x400m relay, which claimed second and set a new W&L record. The quartet of Lee, juniors Sarah Helms (Cumming, Ga./North Forsyth) and Janey Fugate (Atlanta, Ga./Whitefield Academy) and first-year first-year Kara Farroni (Willoughby, Ohio/Willoughby South) crossed the finish line in 4:01.31 to top the previous record of 4:02.69 set in 2012.

This marks the fourth time Madison has earned an ODAC Scholar-Athlete honor. She also received it at the 2013 outdoor track and field championship, the 2013 cross country championship and the 2014 indoor track and field championship.

On Saturday, Madison took second in the 1,500m (4:39.64), the 800m (2:21.34) and the 5,000m (18:20.21). First-year Catherine Fonvielle (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) claimed fifth in the 800m (2:24.90) and junior Casey Mackintosh (Marietta, Ga./George Walton) placed sixth in the 5,000m (18:47.73).

The Generals had four competitors score in the pole vault, led by first-year Lizzy Stanton (Papillion, Neb./Papillion-LaVista South) winning the event. She finished with a leap of 3.41m (11'02.25"). Junior Jillian Katterhagen (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands) placed second at 3.11m (10'02.50"), senior Alex Hagan (Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant) tied for third with a vault of 2.96m (9'08.50") and senior Leigh Dannhauser (Bronxville, N.Y./Bronxville) took sixth at 2.51m (8'02.75"). Dannhauser also came in fifth in the javelin with a toss of 29.29m (96'01.00").

First-year Ali Peacock (Libertyville, Ill./Vernon Hills) took sixth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:11.53, and Helms crossed the finish line fifth in the 400m in 1:00.17.

The 4x100m placed fourth with a time of 51.65. The foursome consisted of Katterhagen, senior Julia Murray (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan), Farroni and sophomore Molly Ungrady (Ponte Vedra Beach. Fla./The Bolles School).

Roanoke's Caitlin Ashley was also named Co-Rookie of the Year, Roanoke's Kaylee Kubisiak earned the Coach of the Year honor and Bridgewater's Kaylee Kubsiak received the Athlete of the Meet award.

All competitors that finished in the Top 3 of an event earned All-ODAC accolades. A select group of Generals will compete at the Liberty Twilight on April 30.
