NEW YORK, N.Y. — The Washington and Lee women's track and field team sent two athletes to the Columbia Final Qualifier on Saturday at the Armory. Senior Annelise Madison (Roca, Neb./Norris) and first-year Lizzy Stanton (Papillion, Neb./Papillion-LaVista South) each set personal bests at the meet, which featured Division I, II and III athletes.
In the pole vault, Stanton took first and broke her own W&L indoor record with a jump of 3.51m (11'06.75"). It topped her previous best of 3.46m (11'04.24") set last week at the ODAC Championship.
Madison finished 11th in the mile in 5:06.26, which was two seconds faster than her previous career best of 5:08.25 set at the Bison Open earlier this season.
Washington and Lee will find out Monday morning if any competitors qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championship on March 14-15.
