NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Washington and Lee women's track and field team competed at the Vince Brown Invitational on Saturday, which was highlighted by the Generals taking three of the Top 7 spots in the pole vault.
First-year Lizzy Stanton (Papillion, Neb./Papillion-LaVista South) finished third in the pole vault with a mark of 3.05m (10'00.00"). Junior Jillian Katterhagen (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands) also cleared 3.05m to take fifth. Senior Alex Hagan (Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant) claimed seventh with a jump of 2.90m (9'06.25").
The DMR placed fourth in 14:27.43. The quartet consisted of senior Katie Driest (Davidson, N.C./North Mecklenburg), first-years Kara Farroni (Willoughby, Ohio/Willoughby South) and Kate McCreary (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) and junior Lucy Ortiz (Ketchikan, Alaska/Ketchikan).
Junior Janey Fugate (Atlanta, Ga./Whitefield Academy) and Katterhagen both ran season bests in the 200m. Fugate crossed the finish line in 28.14, while Katterhagen recorded a time of 28.16.
The Generals next compete at the Kent State Tune Up on February 22.
