W&L Women's T&F in Action at Johnson C. Smith Invitational
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Coming out of exams, the Washington and Lee women's track and field team competed against Division I, II and III teams at the Johnson C. Smith Invitational on Saturday.
In the field events, Alexandra Hagan (Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant) led the way with a second-place finish in the pole vault at 2.60m (8'06.25"). Teammate Leigh Dannhauser (Bronxville, N.Y./Bronxville) was right behind her in third with the same mark. First-year Maggie Kleber (Beach Haven, N.J./Southern Regional) finished seventh in the high jump at 1.47m (4'09.75").
Senior Marissa Thompson (Chatham, Va./Chatham) claimed seventh in the 400H with a time of 68.63. Senior Paige Gance (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) was right on her heels in ninth in 69.75. Thompson also claimed eighth in the 100H at 15.78.
Seniors Lauren Schultz (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) and Molly Ortiz (Ketchikan, Alaska/Ketchikan) finished ninth and 10th in the 1,500m. Schultz crossed the finish line ninth in 4:52.60, and Ortiz placed 10th with a time of 4:53.96.
First-year Kathleen Devine (Bronxville, N.Y./Paul D. Schreiber) recorded a personal best time in the 100m at 13.26.
The Generals host the ODAC Championship next Friday and Saturday at Wilson Field.
