Women's Track and Field Tabbed Second in ODAC Preseason Poll

FOREST, Va. — The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its 2012-13 women's indoor track and field preseason coaches' poll on Friday, and Washington and Lee was picked second out of eight schools. The Generals received one first-place vote and 43 total points.

Defending indoor champion Roanoke collected six first-place votes and 48 total points to garner the top spot. Lynchburg was picked third (37) and received the final first-place vote. Bridgewater is fourth (30), followed by Shenandoah (22), Virginia Wesleyan (22), Eastern Mennonite (15) and Guilford (7).

The Generals took second at the 2012 Indoor ODAC Championship. At the meet, junior Annelise Madison (Roca, Neb./Norris) won the mile in 5:16.67, and sophomore Jillian Katterhagen (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands) claimed the pole vault title with a mark of 2.93 meters.

Along with the returners, the Generals add 17 newcomers to this year’s squad. The team opens the season on Saturday, December 1, at the Liberty Kick Off.
