BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Washington and Lee women's track & field team competed at the Hopkins Loyola Invitational on Saturday afternoon in a final tune up for next week's ODAC Championships.
Sophomore Annelise Madison (Roca, Neb./Norris) led the Generals with a near miss of the school record in the 800m. She placed second with a time of 2:17.86, just missing the school-record time of 2:17.34.
First-year Jillian Katterhagen (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands) also earned a second-place finish, clearing 3.19 meters in the pole vault.
Junior Lauren Schultz (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) was fourth in the 1500m with a personal-best time of 4:50.56 and junior Molly Ortiz (Ketchikan, Alaska/Ketchikan) took sixth with a personal-best time of 4:57.92.
Sophomore Brandie Huffman (Warrenton, Va./Fauquier) was fifth in the 5000m with a time of 18:37.85 and sophomore Lauren Woodie (Bluefield, Va./Graham) notched a pair of personal-best times, she finished the 200m in 27:46 while posting a time of 1:00.74 in the 400m.
Finally, junior Taylor Maxey (Poway, Calif./Bishop's School) earned a pair of Top 5 finishes, placing third in the discus (38.39 meters) and fourth in the shot put (11.37).
W&L next competes on Friday on Day one of the ODAC Championship hosted by Lynchburg College beginning at 3:00 pm.
