W&L Women's Tennis Continues Competition at ITAs

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's tennis team continued in competition at the USTA-ITA Southeast Regional Championships on Sunday at Mary Washington.

In the Championships Doubles bracket, the tandem of junior Brooke Donnelly (Kennesaw, Ga. / Marietta) and first-year Tessa Hill (Canton, Ohio / Jackson) advanced to the semifinals round.

The duo defeated Washington College's MP Hubert and Blair Kang, 8-2, in the Round of 16 then went on to top Megumi Chen and Jody Law of Johns Hopkins, 8-6, in the quarterfinals.

In the Championships Singles bracket, Donnelly advanced to the semifinals round after she opened with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Law in the Round of 16 then edged Hill, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4, in the quarterfinals.

The USTA-ITA Southeast Regional Championships will conclude on Monday, with the winners advancing to the USTA-ITA Small College Championships in Sumter, S.C., on October 15-18.
