NCAA Releases Women's Tennis Tournament Field
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced the field for its 2014 Division III women's tennis tournament on Monday afternoon.
The Generals will travel to Emory University for first, second and third round action this weekend. Times for the weekend matchups will be determined at a later date.
W&L (17-2) received a bye into the second round and will play winner of the Hanover (15-4) – Sewanee (20-3) matchup that takes place on Friday. Emory (23-2), Berry (17-2), and Methodist (22-2) are all on the other half of the bracket and would be a potential third round opponent on Sunday.
The Blue and White earned the automatic bid to the tournament after winning the program’s 12th-straight conference title and its 24th championship in program history, and Emory won the University Athletic Association Championship over eighth-ranked Carnegie Mellon to receive a bid.
Sewanee and Berry received Pool B selections out of the Southern Athletic Association, Hanover took down Rose-Hulman in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship and Methodist won the USA South over Meredith to earn a bid to the tournament.
