MOBILE, Ala. – Junior Claire Cahill (Austin, Texas/Lake Travis) and sophomore Meghan Buell (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) teamed up to take second place in doubles play at the ITA National Small College Championships on Friday at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center.
In the semifinal round of doubles, Buell and Cahill defeated Courtney Lawless and Alyssa Roberg from Whitman, 4-6, 6-4, 10-8, advancing the pair to the final match. The duo then continued play in the championship match where they were taken down by Gabrielle Clark and Emma Taylor from Emory, 6-1, 6-2.
In singles action, Buell fell to Gabrielle Clark from Emory, 6-2, 6-0, in the semifinal round. Buell will next face Brittni Fausett of Mary-Hardin Baylor on Saturday morning to play for third place.
The Generals will continue action at the ITA National Small College National Championships on Saturday, with Buell's match set to begin at 8:30 pm.
