LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's swimming team opened up its 2017-18 season with victories over Mary Washington (175-87) and Centre (202-60) in a tri-meet on Friday night at the W&L Natatorium.
Highlights From the Meet
This was the first competitive meet at the W&L Natatorium, the winning time in each event set the initial pool record for the venue.
Sophomore Emily Hageboeck (Charleston, W.Va. / Washington) led the way for the Generals with three first-place finishes in the 100-yard breast, 200-yard breast and 200-yard IM, while first-year Mattie Grant (Mechanicsville, Va. / Hanover) recorded two first-place swims in the 1000-yard free and 500-yard free.
Junior Elle Chancey (Tampa, Fla. / Berkeley Preparatory School) and sophomore Ali MacQueen (Memphis, Tenn. / St. Mary's Episcopal School) were both members of the winning 200-yard medley relay (1:49.37) and 200-yard freestyle relay. The duo was joined by sophomore Ashley Johnston (Gainesville, Ga. / North Hall) and Hageboeck on the medley relay, while senior Cassidy Fuller (Moraga, Calif. / Campolindo) and junior Jordan Watson (Fayetteville, Ga. / Whitewater) were members of the freestyle relay.
