LANCASTER, Pa. – The Washington and Lee women's swimming team completed competition at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational on Sunday evening. W&L earned 1,403 points to finish in second place behind Delaware (1,790).
The Generals posted 10 Top 5 finishes on the final day of competition at the three-day invite.
The 400-yard freestyle relay squad that consisted of first-years Elle Chancey (Tampa, Fla. / Berkeley Preparatory School) and Jordan Watson (Fayetteville, Ga. / Whitewater) and juniors Emily Rollo (Haddonfield, N.J. / Haddonfield Memorial) and Elisabeth Holmes (Raleigh, N.C. / Needham B. Broughton) finished in third place with a time of 3:34.71.
Chancey, Holmes and Rollo also recorded fourth-place finishes in individual events. Chancey took fourth in the 100-yard freestyle in 53.02, while Holmes placed fourth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:07.86. Rollo and sophomore Kira Tomenchok (Richmond, Va. / Trinity Episcopal School) tied for fourth in the 200-yard backstroke, both touching the wall in 2:06.62.
Sophomore Katie Gardner (Irvington, N.Y. / Irvington) had a third-place showing for the Generals, clocking in at 1:07.37 in the 100-yard breaststroke and senior Emma Swabb (Erie, Pa. / McDowell) placed fifth in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:13.32.
The Blue and White had three Top 5 finishes in the 200-yard butterfly event, with junior Haylee Rademann (Folsom, Calif. / St. Francis) finishing third (2:10.65), sophomore Cassidy Fuller (Moraga, Calif. / Campolindo) following in fourth (2:10.73) and sophomore Mara Tynan (Westford, Mass. / Westford Academy) placing fifth (2:11.37).
W&L women's swimming returns to the action on December 4 at the Randolph-Macon Invitational.
