LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee first-year swimmer Elisabeth Holmes (Raleigh, N.C./Needham B. Broughton) was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Swimmer of the Week for the week ending November 24, as announced by the league Monday afternoon.
Holmes picked up her third weekly honor after she helped the Generals to a first-place finish at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational. Individually, Holmes finished in the top spot in the 500 free (5:04.55). Holmes also finished second in the 200 free, touching in a school-record time of 1:55.55, and placed second overall in the 1650 free with a time of 17:40.86.
She also teamed up with senior Meredith Hardy (Cary, N.C./Athens Drive), sophomore Sarah Schaffer (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton Warrenville South) and first-year Natalie Brendsel (Oakton, Va./Flint Hill) in the 400 free relay that finished first in a time of 3:36.01. Holmes was also a member of the 800 free relay squad consisting of senior Meredith Hardy (Cary, N.C. / Athens Drive) and first-years Natalie Brendsel (Oakton, Va. / Flint Hill and Emily Rollo (Haddonfield, N.J. / Haddonfield Memorial) that touched in 7:54.11 to claim first-place honors.
The Generals return to the pool when travel to Bridgewater on Saturday, January 11. Action is set to begin at 6:00 pm.
