LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's swimming team wrapped up its home schedule with a 154-101 win over Catholic and a 156-101 win over Marymount on Saturday afternoon at the Cy Twombly Pool.
The meet was highlighted by the 200 medley relay team that set a pool record with a time of 1:52.08. First-year Stephanie Foster (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach) led off the relay and was followed by classmate Sarah Schaffer (Wheaton, Ill. / Wheaton Warrenville South), sophomore Caroline Hamp (Avon Lake, Ohio / Elyria Catholic) and senior Izzy Brassfield (Greensboro, N.C. / Greensboro Day School).
The Generals (8-3) also produced nine individual event winners led by senior Delaney Rolfe (Dallas, Texas / Highland Park), who won a pair of events. She claimed the 200 free (2:00.78) and touched first in the 500 free (5:25.37).
Brassfield posted a win in the 50 free, finishing in 25.41, while Foster claimed the 100 back with a time of 1:02.25. Hamp won the 200 back with a time of 2:16.70 and senior Brittany Ross (Chatham, N.J. / Chatham) touched first in the 200 fly with a time of 2:18.34.
Senior Kelly Mae Ross (Endicott, N.Y. / Maine-Endwell) finished first in the 1000 free (11:22.95) and sophomore Hannah Melkun (Fredericksburg, Va. / Stafford) touched first in the 100 breast with a time of 1:12.74. First-year Emma Swabb (Erie, Pa. / McDowell) rounded out the Generals' first place finishers with a win in the 200 breast with a time of 2:37.73.
Washington and Lee will return to the pool next weekend as it competes at cross-town rival VMI. The meet is slated to begin at 1:00 pm.
