LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's swimming team claimed six event wins, as the Generals defeated Bridgewater, 115-84, on Saturday afternoon in Cy Twombly Pool.
Junior Lauren Kasoff (Owings Mills, Md./Saint Paul's) led the Generals with two individual wins on the day. She took first in the 200 free in a time of 2:01.65 and clocked in at 1:03.37 for first in the 100 back.
The 400 medley relay consisting of senior Izzy Brassfield (Greensboro, N.C./Greensboro Day School), sophomore Caroline Hamp (Avon Lake, Ohio/Elyria Catholic) and first-years Stephanie Foster (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) and Sarah Schaffer (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton Warrenville South) touched the wall in 4:12.56 to claim the Generals' first win of the day. Brassfield also notched a first-place performance of 25.83 in the 50 free. In the 1000 free, senior Colleen Moore (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) timed in at 11:27.00 for first, and first-year Meredith Murphy (Hillsboro, Calif./Saint Ignatius College Prep) claimed first place in the 200 IM with a time 2:20.89.
W&L also featured six second-place performances. Hamp took second in the 100 back (1:04.31), while sophomore Sydney Gay (Henrico, Va./Henrico) finished second in the 1000 free (11:34.62) and senior Delaney Rolfe (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) took runner-up in the 100 free (56.31). Other second-place times included a 1:04.56 in the 100 fly by first-year Emma Swabb (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and first-year Grace Duncan (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) touching in 2:05.09 in the 200 free.
The Generals return to the pool on January 19, when they host Catholic and Marymount. Action is set to begin at 1:00 pm.
