FOREST, Va. – Washington and Lee first-year Sarah Schaffer (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton Warrenville South) was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week for the week ending November 11, as announced by the league on Monday.
Schaffer helped lead the Generals to three pool records in a 114-78 victory over Sweet Briar on Friday evening. She teamed up with sophomore Caroline Hamp (Avon Lake, Ohio/Elyria Catholic) and first-years Stephanie Foster (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) and Emma Swabb (Erie, Pa./McDowell) in the 200 medley relay to set a new pool record of 2:06.61. Schaffer also was a member of the record-breaking 400 medley relay, and was joined by Swabb, senior Delaney Rolfe (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) and junior Meredith Hardy (Cary, N.C./Athens Drive) to touch the wall in 4:09.28.
Schaffer notched her third win and pool record on the evening with a time of 2:12.73 in the 200 free.
The Generals return to the pool on November 17, when they travel to Carnegie Mellon to face CMU, Rochester and Allegheny. Action is set to begin at 11:00 am.
