SOMERS, Wisc. -- The Washington and Lee men’s and
women’s swimming teams were recognized in
CollegeSwimming.com’s final Division III polls. The W&L
men finished 16th with 155 total points, while the women were among
those receiving votes (23) for the Top 25.
Kenyon topped atop the men’s poll with 19 first-place votes
and 571 points. Denison was second with four first-place votes and
554 points, while Emory (450), The College of New Jersey (414),
Johns Hopkins (400) Grove City (381), St. Olaf (349), Hope (340),
Amherst (336) and Washington University (322) complete the Top
10.
In the women’s poll, Kenyon led the way with 15 first-place
votes and 494 points, while Denison followed with five first-place
votes and 484 points. Emory (446), Williams (440), Amherst (418),
Johns Hopkins (345), UW-Lacrosse (295), Calvin (290), UW-Stevens
Point (251) and Hope (241) round out the Top 10.
Both the W&L men’s and women’s swim teams will be
represented at this week’s NCAA Division III National
Championships as the men’s team has five swimmers competing
and the women’s team has one. The championship meet is hosted
by Macalester College at the University of Minnesota and is set to
begin on Wednesday.
