LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's soccer team advances to the ODAC Tournament title match for the first time since 2009 after taking down Bridgewater, 3-0, on Tuesday afternoon at Watt Field.
With the win the No. 18 Generals improved to 17-2-1 on the year, while the Eagles end their season 11-8-1.
First-year Tricia Jessee (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry) scored the eventual game-winner with an unassisted tally at the 21:38 mark. She now leads the team with nine goals on the season.
The Blue and White increased its lead to 2-0 when Haley Ward's (Federal Way, Wash./Federal Way) corner kick deflected off the keepers hands and into the net.
Junior forward Katherine Rush (Cornelius, N.C./Providence Day School) continued her tournament success, scoring the third goal of the match in the 84th minute to end the game 3-0 in the Generals favor.
Sophomore Addie Healy (Waterford, Va./Woodgrove) earned her ODAC-leading ninth clean sheet of the season, finishing with six saves. Sophomore Taylor Riley (Burke, Va./Lake Braddock) suffered the loss for Bridgewater, allowing three goals and stopping seven shots.
For the game, the Generals outshot the Eagles, 22-12, and held an 8-3 edge in corner kicks.
The Generals will return to action for the championship match that will be held on Saturday. The Blue and White will either travel to No. 1 Lynchburg or host No. 4 Shenandoah. The time is yet to be determined.
