W&L's DeVoe Named to VaSID All-State First Team

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced its 2012 College Division All-State Women's Soccer teams and sophomore Taylor DeVoe (Landenberg, Pa./Kennett) garnered first team honors.

A defender, DeVoe led a defense that registered a 0.59 goals-against average and 10 shutouts, while allowing just 11 goals. She started all 17 games she appeared in and collected her first career points on a goal against Guilford en route to earning First Team All-ODAC and second team all-region laurels.

Rachel Sadowski from Lynchburg earned Player of the Year accolades, while the Hornets' Dr. Todd Olsen was named Coach of the Year. Lora Palmer from Southern Virginia claimed the Rookie of the Year award.

The Generals finished the 2012 campaign with a 14-3-1 overall record, after falling to Shenandoah, 3-2, in double-overtime in the quarterfinals of the ODAC Tournament.
