LYNCHBURG, Va. – Washington and Lee first-year goalkeeper Addie Healy (Waterford, Va./Woodgrove) stopped eight shots on goal to hold off Lynchburg scoring, as the Washington and Lee women's soccer team drew even, 0-0, with the No. 9 Hornets on Sunday afternoon at Shellenberger Field.
Both teams struggled to find opportunities to score in the first half, with LC just barely edging W&L in a 5-4 shot count. At 35:51, sophomore forward Katie Rossi (Wyoming, Del./Caesar Rodney) notched a shot, but was stopped by LC goalkeeper Audrey Moore. Less than a minute later, sophomore midfielder Haley Ward (Federal Way, Wash./Federal Way) set up a corner kick and sent the ball into the feet of senior defender Alex Todd (New Orleans, La./Isidore Newman School), who's attempt was blocked by Lynchburg.
