W&L Women's Soccer Tops Sweet Briar, 8-0

SWEET BRIAR, Va. – Seven different Generals registered a goal as the Washington and Lee women's soccer team topped Sweet Briar, 8-0, on Saturday afternoon at Babcock Field.

W&L netted five goals in the opening stanza, including two from first-year midfielder Holley Beasley (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy), who scored in the 8th and 22nd minutes. Also registering goals in the first half were first-years Emily Scott (Port Murray, N.J./West Morris Central) and Julia Lancaster (Atlanta, Ga./Atlanta International) and senior Allie Espina (Gaithersburg, Md./Good Counsel).

The Generals added three more goals in the second half en route to the 8-0 shutout, improving to 8-1-1 overall and 4-0-1 in ODAC play.

Leading the Generals were first-years Katie Rossi (Wyoming, Del./Caesar Rodney) and Beasley, who each finished with five points. Rossi had a goal and three assists, while Beasley netted two goals and one assist. As a team, W&L outshot the Vixens, 44-0, while also owning a 7-0 edge in corner kicks.

In goal, senior Emily Leary (Cincinnati, Ohio/Kings) played all 90:00 and did not face a shot. SBC's Seanne Weekes also played the entirety, recording 19 saves.

The Generals return to action on Tuesday, traveling to Hollins for a 4:00 pm contest.
