W&L Wrestling Toppled by Ohio Northern, 32-6
LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee wrestling team dropped a 32-6 decision to Ohio Northern on Saturday afternoon at Doremus Gymnasium.
The Generals (0-4) trailed 6-0 entering the match at 141 pounds following a double forfeit at 125 pounds and a W&L forfeit at 133 pounds. First-year Michael Rodgers (Allentown, Pa. / Allentown Central Catholic) posted a victory in the first contested match when he recorded a 5-0 win over senior Cody Harting (Springfield, Ohio / Kenton Ridge) in the 141-pound match.
After a loss at 149 pounds, senior Dan Igel (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. / Bolles School) pulled the Generals to within 11-6 with a 3-1 win over junior Kyle Brezovec (Aurora, Ohio / Aurora) at 157 pounds. However, that would be as close as W&L would get as the Polar Bears (4-2) won the final five matches for their second-straight win over W&L.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday when it hosts the W&L Invitational at 9:00 am.
