W&L Wrestling Competes in the McDaniel Quad

WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Washington and Lee wrestling team dropped a trio of Centennial Conference matches at the McDaniel Quad on Saturday afternoon.  The Generals fell to Stevens by a score of 44-9, were defeated by the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, 37-10, and were knocked off by the home-standing Green Terror, 36-9.

Senior Sam Campbell (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) improved to a career-best 19-5 on the season by winning all three of his matches at 133 pounds.  He posted a 6-4 win over Stevens' Andrew Boehm, notched a 10-1 major decision over Thomas Healey of the Merchant Marines, and logged a 5-0 win over Sean Ensign of McDaniel.

Senior 157-pounder David Dennis (Sherman, Va./Ravenswood) was another bright spot for the Generals, recording two wins and one loss on the day to improve to 16-5 on the year.  Dennis felled Geraldo Rodriguez of Stevens in 1:49 and notched a pin of USMMA's Matt Hiltz in 2:00, before dropping a 13-6 decision to Brent Lowe of McDaniel.  He now has a team-best seven wins by fall on the season.

Other winners on the day for W&L included sophomore 165-pounder Dan Igel (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Bolles School) and first-year 184-pounder Morgan Moskal (Roanoke, Va./North Cross) who both notched victories against McDaniel.  Igel defeated Sean McGarry, 7-5, while Moskal bested Scott Forrester, 11-9.

Washington and Lee (2-15, 0-4) returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Southern Virginia for a 7:00 pm dual match with the Knights.
