LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team had 11 different players score in a 21-1 triumph over Randolph on Saturday evening at WildCat Stadium.
The Generals (8-5, 6-0) tallied nine goals in the first 11:47 of the game over the WildCats (2-12, 1-5). In that span, first-year attacker Maddy Graves (Cos Cob, Conn. / Greenwich) found the back of the net four times and dished out one assist.
Senior midfielder Taylor Riccardi scored Randolph's lone goal of the contest at the 17:10 mark to make the score 9-1.
The Blue and White ended the first half on a six-goal run to carry a 15-1 lead into intermission. Sophomore midfielder Mimi MacCowatt (New Vernon, N.J. / Kent Place School) posted two goals in the spurt.
W&L scored six second-half goals by six different players to reach the final margin of 21-1. The Generals have now defeated the WildCats 11 consecutive times.
For the game, Washington and Lee held an advantage in shots, 52-5, and in draw controls, 20-4. The Generals also picked up 22 ground balls, as opposed to the WildCats' 11.
First-year Ellie Aburn (Towson, Md. / Notre Dame Preparatory) and sophomores Hannah Wiltshire (Wilton, Conn. / Wilton) and Harleigh Bean (Upper Marlboro, Md. / Episcopal) all saw action in goal for the Generals, and Wiltshire made two saves. Senior keeper Ashton Ewers played the duration of the contest in net for Randolph and stopped 16 shots.
Graves' four goals and one assist led the Blue and White, while MacCowatt finished with three goals and one assist and first-year attacker Kate Lesch (Bedford, N.H. / Bedford) notched two goals and two assists.
W&L returns to action on April 23 when it hosts Guilford for a 1:00 pm contest.
