Stone Garners VaSID All-State Women's Lacrosse Honor

LYNCHBURG, Va. — The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced the All-State College Division Women's Lacrosse team on Thursday and Washington and Lee junior defender Leanne Stone (Darien, Conn./Darien) made the first team.

Stone also received Third Team All-America honors earlier this season and was awarded a spot on the All-ODAC first team and the All-Chesapeake Region first team.

She appeared in all 19 games this season with 18 starts as a defender. Stone paced a back third that recorded the second-best goals-against average in the league (8.80) and allowed opponents to score just 178 goals. She led the Generals with 57 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers, including four ground balls and three caused turnovers in the NCAA Tournament first round contest.

Senior Katie Mastropaolo of Mary Washington earned Player of the Year accolades, Katherine Francis of Lynchburg was named the Rookie of the Year and Carolyn Raveia of Christopher Newport garnered the Coach of the Year honor.

W&L ended its 2013 campaign with a 10-10 overall record after falling to York (Pa.), 13-6, in NCAA Division III first round action. The Generals also claimed the program's 14th Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship this spring.
