LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced the addition of Mary Heneberry to the athletics staff as assistant women's lacrosse coach.
Heneberry comes to W&L after serving as the assistant director of the Diamonds Lacrosse Club in Baltimore, Md., and also serving as a contributing writer for Inside Lacrosse Magazine.
With Diamonds Lacrosse, she was responsible for assisting with the coaching for each of the club's six teams, in addition to advising players and their families on the collegiate recruiting process. At Inside Lacrosse, she wrote weekly features on women's lacrosse and provided game coverage for the website ILWomen.com.
Heneberry also held an assistant coaching post at St. Andrew's School and assisted with development and coaching at Casey Powell Lacrosse in Boca Raton, Fla., this spring.
A 2011 graduate of Loyola College with bachelor of arts degrees in writing and philosophy, Heneberry was a four-year letterwinner for the Greyhounds' lacrosse team, earning Second Team All-Big East honors as a senior. That year, she helped lead Loyola to the Big East Championship and a trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals, finishing as the team's fourth-leading scorer with 38 points. Heneberry completed her collegiate career with 86 goals and 32 assists.
At Dulaney High School, Heneberry was a two-time All-American and a finalist for the 2007 Tewaaraton High School Award.
