FOREST, Va. – Washington and Lee claimed two ODAC Players of the Week for the week ending April 1, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Sophomore Zander Tallman (Grand Blanc, Mich./Cranbrook Kingswood) was named the Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week and senior attacker Alli Shearin (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) received Women's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week honors.
Tallman led the Generals with four event wins at the Commonwealth Duals on Saturday, hosted by Christopher Newport. He posted a record-breaking performance in the 200m with a time of 21.53 seconds, besting the previous school record of 21.94, and also won the 400m (48.86). Tallman continued his winning streak with a 3:23.25 performance in the 4x400m relay, as he was joined by sophomores Mac Keers (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) and Parker Howard (Naperville, Ill./Nequea Valley) and junior Steven Colliau (South Pasadena, Calif./South Pasadena). Tallman's final win came in the 4x100m relay with Howard, Colliau and first-year Aaron Jeong (Federal Way, Wash./Thomas Jefferson) as they finished in a time of 42.95.
Shearin collected the Player of the Week accolade after guiding W&L to a 3-0 week in ODAC action, improving its conference mark to 5-0. With all three contests on the road, she led the Generals' scoring with 10 total goals and five assists on the week, including a five-point performance on four goals and one helper in a 21-2 victory over Randolph. Shearin also notched three goals and two assists in both wins over Sweet Briar (23-2) and Virginia Wesleyan (16-5).
The men's track and field team will return to action after a week off on April 14, at the Johns Hopkins Invitational beginning at 11:00 am. The women's lacrosse team returns to the field on Wednesday when they travel to Bridgewater for a 4:30 pm contest.
