
GRAND LAKE, Colo. -- The
Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Associaton (IWLCA)
recently announced its 2009 Division III Academic Squads and the
Washington and Lee was among those honored.
Washington and Lee was named a Merit Squad in the IWLCA Division
III Academic Squad list after finishing in the top three of 62
institutions receiving the honor. The Generals finished the
academic year with a 3.438 team grade-point average (GPA), trailing
only Vassar (3.474 GPA) and the College of Notre Dame (3.443 GPA)
in the standings.
Teams that have a collective GPA of 3.0 or greater earned the
distinction of being named an Academic Squad, while the squads with
the three highest team GPAs earned the honor of being named a Merit
Squad.
Washington and Lee finished the season with an overall record of
13-5, including a 7-1 record in the ODAC.
