W&L's Freed Places in a tie for 49th at the NCAA Championship

HOUSTON, Texas – Washington and Lee junior Liza Freed (Alexandria, Va. / St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) finished in a tie for 49th out of 116 golfers at the NCAA Division III Championship held at the Bay Oaks Country Club. 

Freed carded a four-day total of 84-78-80-87—329 (+41) to tie with four other golfers in 49th-place.  She tied for 18th at the championship as a first-year and sophomore. 

Fellow ODAC golfer Christina Herbert of Bridgewater finished as the NCAA Division III Champion with a +5 score of 74-69-76-74—293.  She won by two strokes over Macy Hubbard of Wittenberg.

Third-ranked Rhodes College won its second straight team title, carding a score of 301-300-306-310—1217 (+65) to best top-ranked George Fox by two strokes.

With the conclusion of the NCAA Championship, Washington and Lee has now completed its 2016-17 season schedule.
