Hall Finishes Second as W&L Women's Golf Places Third at the Callaway Spring Invite

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The 18th-ranked Washington and Lee women's golf team finished third out of 12 teams at the Callaway Golf Spring Invitational held at the Bryan Park Players Course on Monday and Tuesday.

Methodist, ranked 14th overall, took the team title by posting a two-day score of 308-300—608 (+32).  Eleventh-ranked Berry was second at 313-309—622 (+46), while the Generals were third with a two-day total of 309-317—626 (+50).

Johnna Beehner of Methodist finished as the individual medalist at the event, carding a -1 score of 72-71—143 to win by five strokes over W&L junior Mary-Frances Hall (State Road, N.C. / Elkin), who finished alone in second-place with a +4 score of 74-74—148.

Junior Liza Freed (Alexandria, Va. / St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) tied for fourth out of the 63 competitors with a 75-77—152 (+8), while first-year Griffin Foultz (San Antonio, Texas / St. Mary's Hall) tied for 14th with a two-day total of 79-82—161 (+17).

Junior Dana Droz (Lancaster, Pa. / Veritas Academy) tied for 25th with a +21 score of 81-84—165, and first-year Caroline Buckley (Duxbury, Mass. / Notre Dame Academy) tallied an 83-84—167 (+23) to tie for 31st.

Senior Katelyn Degnan (Saint Petersburg, Fla. / Canterbury School) also competed in the event as an individual, finishing in a tie for 47th with a score of 92-90—182 (+38).

Washington and Lee will return to action on April 23-25 as it takes part in the ODAC Championship held at the Wintergreen Resort in Nellysford, Va.
