CLAYTON, Ind. – The 24th-ranked Washington and Lee women's golf team carded an opening round score of 323 and is tied for sixth out of 14 teams at the Dan Quayle Classic hosted by DePauw at the Deer Creek Golf Club in Clayton, Ind.
Second-ranked Wittenberg leads the field after posting a 300 led by the play of Jane Hopkinson-Wood, who is the top individual after carding a 70.
The top General in the field is junior Liza Freed (Alexandria, Va. / St. Stephen's & St. Agnes), who is tied for fourth overall out of 85 golfers with a 75. First-year Griffin Foultz (San Antonio, Texas / St. Mary's Hall) carded a 79 and is tied for 13th, while junior Mary-Frances Hall (State Road, N.C. / Elkin) posted an 80 that is tied for 18th.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Sunday with the final round from Deer Creek.
